About
Everyone has them: the classics they missed, somehow, growing up.
Maybe you never got around to watching Casablanca. Maybe nobody ever made you read To Kill a Mockingbird in high school.
Or maybe, like me, you somehow grew up without playing Super Metroid.
My name’s Nate, and there are several gaming classics that I have never played. Chances are you are just like me! Maybe, in the great console wars of the ’90s, you were too busy doing what Ninten-didn’t to play Chrono Trigger. Maybe you thought the GameCube wasn’t worth buying and so you missed out on Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. Maybe you’re not sure what a “Katamari” is.
Let’s remedy this.
My goal here at The Lost Levels is to chronicle my own experience in trying to get myself up to speed. I’m going to play all those games that I missed over the course of my childhood, and then I’m going to tell you about it. Perhaps I will give you some tips along the way! “Make time to play Prince of Persia,” I’ll say, or “you can probably skip Lee Trevino’s Fighting Golf.” Maybe Phantasy Star II will be your bag. Maybe it won’t be. Whatever the case, I hope you’ll join me on this journey through gaming history as I attempt to see old games through new eyes.
